Direct Primary Care was first established in 1997. It is a type of healthcare model where the patient pays the doctor directly for their services instead of paying through health insurance companies. Today the movement has expanded to thousands of independent practices in more than half the states in the US. I like calling it a movement because it takes away the power from the insurance companies and gives it back to the patient and their doctor which is the way healthcare

To answer this question we must first explain the typical annual physical. If your doctor works for a big organization then chances are they get 10-15 minutes to conduct your physical, including the actual exam. I have patients coming in for their physical thinking this is the time to address every medical problem they have or think they might have. Unfortunately you don't want to do that. This appointment is not geared for that. During this visit you are meant to get up to d
